Southern's Facilities "Pass The Test"

As ice storm recovery came to a close last spring, we felt that Southern's electrical system would be put to the test. We knew there could be unknown damages that would become evident as we reached our peak load this summer. For example, several instances of "frayed wire" were discovered prior to the summer that were repaired, but this type of damage is not easy to detect and we were uncertain if more of these issues existed.

Toward the end of July, Southern reached its greatest peak during a period when rainfall was not abundant. We are very pleased that there were no power failures as a result of ice storm damage. This is remarkable considering the number of people at work making repairs after the storm and the rapid manner in which they worked.
