SPD Announces New Heat Pump Incentive Program

Southern’s Board of Directors approved changes to the Heat Pump Incentive Program at their August Board Meeting, with the new program guidelines taking effect on September 1, 2008. The program will include rebates for installing an ENERGY STAR® qualified air source or ground source heat pump to existing homes, and will apply for anyone seeking to upgrade their existing heat pump, or replace their existing fossil-fueled heating and cooling system.

The rebate funds available to you are provided from two sources, one from Southern Power District, and another from a new energy efficiency program put into place from Nebraska Public Power District. To determine what rebates are available to you, refer to the chart on page three.

Once you decide to take the step to improve your home’s energy efficiency with a heat pump, you will be required to have a performance verification completed in order to qualify for the incentive. This will assure that your heat pump is operating properly to assure you the energy savings that you deserve. The incentive for heat pump dealers is also outlined in the chart below:
