  • Try the Home Energy Suite Appliance Calculator
  • If you’re wondering which appliances in your home use the most energy, you will find the Appliance Calculator on Southern’s Home Energy Suite to be a useful tool. The calculator provides a listing of various appliances you may use in your home. Simply input the number of each appliance that you are currently using, the wattage, and the number of hours they are used each day. When you are finished, press “calculate” at the bottom of the page, and you will find the average usage and cost for each appliance you designated.

Once you’ve calculated an estimate of your appliance usage and costs, do it again with some adjustments. Try reducing the hours you turn on your television, or change to a more energy efficient appliance. You’ll begin to see how changes in your usage can make a big difference.

Home Energy Suite also offers an interactive house, which allows you to view energy efficiency tips on a room-by-room basis. The Home Energy Calculator is another useful tool that allows you to view an estimate of your monthly and annual energy costs based upon the size of your home, appliances and the energy efficiency measures already taken in your home. Check it out today.
