Linemen Stay On-Task with Busy Work Schedule

Southern’s linemen are going “full steam ahead”, continuing to chip away at a large number of projects that were outlined in last month’s newsletter. In early March, they successfully completed a seven mile stretch of subtransmission line from Loomis to Bertrand, and they recently began work on a similar project that would connect Funk and Wilcox. This project began the week of March 10th, and was an incredible collaboration of linemen from many areas including Holdrege, Franklin and Hastings, as well as the district’s Construction Crew. The men aggressively worked to complete a one-mile stretch of the project southwest of Axtell.
Further to the east, construction of a substation west of Giltner is nearing completion ahead of schedule by Southern’s Grand Island men. Work in Hamilton County will ramp up in April, as work will begin on upgrades that will serve new load coming online at Aurora. The District will construct subtransmission lines, a substation, and perform upgrades that will improve service to new and existing customers in this area. We are optimistic all of this work can be completed by June 1st, in time for our peak season.
