Our Energy, Our Future: What the Campaign is NOT About...
In recent years, there has been much debate about global warming, and the legislation that was being proposed to meet those concerns. There has also been much debate surrounding the increasing use of renewable energy resources, due to their higher cost and intermittent availability.
Those with a strong interest in these issues might see this campaign as an attempt to speak out in a negative way about renewable energy development.
Actually, this is not our intent with this campaign. Simply put, we have a responsibility to make our customers aware of how any legislative issue will impact their rates. Low rates is one of the guiding principles of public power. The issue of global warming is undeniably one that will affect the affordability of electric rates.
We feel that the Our Energy, Our Future campaign is an opportunity to provide factual information, and offer an opportunity for customers to have a voice, and speak up that affordable rates are a must!
