Should I consider throwing away my incandescent bulbs, and replacing with CFLs?
If you choose to replace all of your incandescent bulbs immediately with ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs, you will begin to have the advantage of energy savings immediately. But, by simply replacing the five most frequently used fixtures in your home to begin, you may already be on the way to saving more than $65 per year. You might still want to keep incandescent bulbs for fixtures where CFLs are not suitable. Such an area might be a closet, where you would only use your light for a few minutes at a time. CFLs provide the greatest savings in places where the light is on for at least two hours per day.
