Holdrege Staff Claim Annual Safety Award

Southern Power District's Holdrege Service Center employees have won Southern's annual inter-office safety contest. Southern conducts the safety contest every year to help encourage employees to adhere to good safety practices throughout the entire year. The Holdrege employees had an impressive year, logging only one accountable accident in 2009.

Jeff Chase is the Holdrege Service Center's area operations manager, and Harley Scott is the maintenance supervisor. The employees based out of this service center include: Leadmen Jon Hamling and Jason Wehrer; Linemen Zach Larson, Justin Marks, John Kegley, Brian Anderson, Brian Neville, Jake Bradley, Caleb Fisher, Nick Osterbuhr, and Patrick Wallin; and Storeroom Keeper Tom Klein.

Overall throughout the district, Southern’s 104 employees worked a total of 233,422 hours and drove 1,342,473 miles.

  • Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month
  • Use your microwave for cooking whenever possible. They use 50 to 65 percent less energy than conventional ovens and do not heat up your house in the summer. However, conventional ovens may be more appropriate for larger size items when cooking time is increased.
