Southern Awards Seven Linemen Scholarships

Southern Power District’s Board of Directors awarded seven scholarships in May to assist recipients with financing their lineman program education. The seven young men are pursuing a career as a lineman, and were each awarded a scholarship amounting to $1,000. Half of that scholarship will be granted upon completion of their first year in a lineman training program at an accredited school, and the remainder of the scholarship is rewarded following graduation.

The scholarship winners this year include Patrick Wallin of Franklin, Ethan Hoins of Trumbull, Travis Forbis of Central City, Colby Klahn and Luke Hannon of Doniphan, and Ethan Rundle and Samuel Gnagy of Hastings. Many of these individuals are recent high school graduates, and some are already enrolled in a lineman program. As a part of their education, they will all be required to complete a summer internship with Southern Power District, which will give them a hands-on opportunity to try out lineman work before they graduate. Congratulations to all seven of these students, and we wish you all well in your education.
