Severe Weather Impacts SPD Customers in June

Severe weather impacted customers across Southern’s service territory, with a storm that produced tornadoes, high winds and lightning on June 11th. We saw outages from this storm in every service area, with the largest impact to our Hastings area customers.

Customers in southern Adams County and Kearney County were without power for much of the day on June 12th as crews worked to put lines back up, and even replaced poles in some areas. The efforts by our linemen were very challenging with the post-storm debris, and flooding in some areas.

We would like to say thanks to our linemen who put in long hours to restore our facilities after the storm, and also to our customers for their patience during their outages. If you would like to receive updates on storm related outages, feel free to be our “friend” on Facebook, “follow” us on Twitter, or watch these updates appear in the news window on our homepage.
