Wilson, Schmidt Assume New Roles at SPD
Southern Power District is pleased to announce that Grand Island Area Lineman Todd Wilson has been appointed to serve as Maintenance Supervisor for the Grand Island Service Area. Todd began in this new capacity on Monday, April 6th.
Todd has been employed with Southern for 19 years. He began his employment with the District on December 31, 1990 working in Minden. On September 1st of the following year, he transferred to the Grand Island Office. He has been a Journeyman Lineman since December, 1992. Todd is a graduate of Bismark State College with an Associates Degree in Utility Lineman, and also worked for the City of Lompoc, California prior to his employment with Southern.
Todd’s position was previously held by Darrel Schmidt who is now serving as the District’s Purchasing Manager, and Safety Director. Darrel has been an SPD employee for 31 years, when he began work as a lineman in the Hastings Service Area. In 1998, he transferred to the Grand Island Service Area where he assumed the role of Maintenance Supervisor/Safety Director. He also worked as a lineman for the City of Hastings prior to joining the staff of SPD in 1978.
President/CEO Gary Hedman says, “I am very pleased to have Todd join our management team and I know customers will find him very easy to work with. Darrel Schmidt, in moving into our purchasing department, also brings many years of experience in utility line construction and first-hand knowledge of what it means to have the right materials available when you need them to complete a line construction project.”
